Unfortunately, the
chat on Thursday was canceled without notification and I was not able to make Saturday
morning’s chat. After viewing the recorded version of this week’s web chat I
noticed it resembled some past web chats where many questions appeared to
repeat themselves which can ultimately distract from the purpose of the chat. This
week's web conference was very much like many web conferences that I have also
experienced in past classes. I found it somewhat confusing and it impacted the
session by not providing as much instruction as I would have preferred. Perhaps
if an agenda of topics to be covered was emailed prior to the event, it might
help keep the chats moving forward instead of having to go back and answer
questions that were asked at the beginning. Instructing students that mics are
not needed for that chat when they have a question may also help deliver
necessary content more efficiently. By typing in questions it gives the
professor time to answer accordingly. By allowing participants to use their
microphones, the potential for unnecessary rambling may take place. This then becomes
another issue that may also hamper productive discussion such as pertinent
information to the week's assignments.
